Photography 101: how to take a picture in the rain without getting wet.

*chuckles*

Really like this Bob. Good eye.
@BobHorowitz Nice shot and the mirror effect is really cool making a shot in a shot

@cvvhrn One of these days I'm going to confirm a hunch about focal distance and mirror reflections...

Simply put: when you focus on, say, a distant object in the mirror, does the camera think the focal point is distant... or just the length from the lens to the mirror (as if this was a painting, not a reflection).

In fact I think I confirmed my hunch with this shot... The focal point is distant. The edges of the mirror are blurry (too close to be in the hyperfocal range).

@BobHorowitz @cvvhrn an ideal flat mirror indeed won’t change any of the angles so they’ll still converge as if you were at the equivalent distance behind the mirror…. but car mirrors these days usually bend outward to cover the blind spot better, which does change the relative angles (hence that goofy warning on them about magnification).

I only have a loose grasp on prism and rangefinder focusing... and no idea how modern cameras implement it. But this sorta makes sense 👍
