I’m guessing any country that refused to assist the U.S. might be cleared to pass.
Mommy MIC is gonna be pissed if Iran can’t keep it up. How’s she gonna sell her goodies?

She’s watching the death of radar with unreserved giddiness.

She gonna sell so many fucking infrared targeting systems.

Trump told Europe to open the strait themselves if they need it.
Looks like the easiest way to do that is to deny the US access to your airspace and bases.
Love to see countries rewarded for doing the right thing! Maybe it’ll catch on now that there’s an economic incentive…
They should have attacked the Fr*nch ship out of spite.
The French vetoed a UN resolution to open the straight of Hormuz using military power.
Out of spite for what?
Being full of French people, presumably.

nono, you just gotta look at the tracking map

They crossed the desert bot the strait~

ELI5 the container ships in that region are there for trade with the gulf countries?

Well their countries aren’t antagonizing Iran so they can be okay. There’s only really two countries that decided to poke them and those country’s ships won’t be allowed. Though some fee may be required but not sure the antagonizing countries get the option of a toll.

I’m not sure if that’s what you were asking or if being facusious but my understanding of geopolitics is minimal also understanding of people too so figured I’d comment.

no, my question is: other than oil and gas trade, what other trade than that for the gulf countries goes through the strait of hormus? or is the amount of container ships in the strait even relevant?

I believe I misread and was thinking of other articles then, oops my apologies. Oil shipping at about 20% worth of world wide though, that’s a big enough chunk to make anyone with a vehicle cringe, regardless of where you are. It’ll eventually hit. Also sure that oil is used in many places not just vehicles to pump up the prices for consumer products. Though unsure of exact oil types on where it ends up exactly, apparently a lot of Asian countries… Which have many manufacturers for our random crap we enjoy.

Sorry I think in the end my answer is that the oil is so much for the world economy that alone is enough to screw the world. To the point that other factors may not be an issue (they may be and I may be ignorant too)

There’s no good way to tell if the containers are full of oil (shipping containers for liquids do exist, and failing that, so do barrels), so it could be an effective way of breaking the blockade.

But on the other hand, the Arabian peninsula isn’t exactly a breadbasket - basically all of its food is imported. And of course, they have oil money so they can buy absurd amounts of shit on Amazon.

The strait was never closed, iran just stopped us and us friendly ships.
