Almost Half of US Data Centers That Were Supposed to Open This Year Slated to Be Canceled or Delayed

The vast majority of data centers scheduled for completion over the next few years have yet to even break ground.

Futurism
@brianvastag @LabSpokane Yes, good news. But I will believe it when I see it. They're building them like gangbusters near where I live. Cheap power.
@mlanger @brianvastag The “good” news in WA is that the utilities are out of power. At least GC PUD is at/near its limit. This will locally cap this insanity for a while.

@LabSpokane @brianvastag Grant County? The one data center I got to visit was at the airport in Moses lake.

East Wenatchee and Malaga are being overrun with them. It's horrifying.

@mlanger @brianvastag Grant County. I’m pretty certain grant county PUD is out of megawatts to sell, a lot of which come out of wanapum dam.
@LabSpokane @brianvastag I think we're getting power here in Chelan and Douglas County from three dams: Rocky reach, Rock Island, and I think it's called Wells Dam near Chelan. Chelan County power is supposed to be the second cheapest in the country but I don't know if that's still true. I was also told that Douglas County is the cheapest. I've got no complaints. My summer electric bill rarely goes above $40 a month.
