What the hell? The #NewJersey state legislature is considering hiking the sales tax in certain areas to pay for preparations for the #FIFA #WorldCup. Why do my purchases need to be taxed because some stupid sport is in town?

"Not content to charge World Cup fans extra sales tax for, say, the overpriced beer or hot dogs they buy at the stadium, the legislation seeks to hike taxes in the Meadowlands District. The district includes Carlstadt, East Rutherford, Jersey City, Kearny, Little Ferry, Lyndhurst, Moonachie, North Arlington, North Bergen, Ridgefield, Rutherford, Secaucus, South Hackensack, and Teterboro."

The surcharge would exist for six weeks.

FIFA is probably second to the IOC for demanding tribute for allowing you to host them.
Think Zil Lanes etc, the 2012 Olympics were a nightmare. Hope we tell FIFA to go do one after their recent stunts.
