I was thinking about the where causes of my distaste for agentic ai come from. A non-trivial amount of my youthful reading was Heinlein’s competence porn. I dodged the military worship, but caught the desire to be good at what I do, and to be able to do a lot.

Agentic AI appears to reward not being competent in a lot of cases, and that is galling.
