Somewhere in between pip-audits and rocket launches and the rain, planted the snap peas. And some bush beans, and salad greens, and another row of asparagus, which the squirrels stopped by to investigate but haven't tried to dig up, and a fig tree which is still small enough for a pot. It's back to cool and grey and misty fog, just a little too much to be nice for coffee on the deck, but probably perfect for the fancy lettuce seeds, so I'll deal.
The raised bed herb and veggie garden is tiny, and deciding what to cram into the space when for clever succession planting and personal value to effort ratio gets complicated, but in the end a lot of it just gets filled with anything I won't feel like waiting on bi-weekly farm share or weekly neighborhood co-op hours or paying certified retail prices for. And dandelion greens, because it's easier to coexist and eat them than try and pull every last root out of the perennials.
Along the garage, there was clearly another flower bed at some point in the past, which dandelions have wholly taken over. Later this year if I'm feeling spry, the plan is to turn that into more distinguished native flowers, and then next, add more pavers to a path that should keep them in check. It's the only non-essential project I've given myself for this place so it is likely I will procrastinate into it sooner than later.
