Sweden has a lot of nominal Muslims. The majority population believes that they are mostly quite religious. Actually, only about 10% of Swedish Muslims visit mosques.

I talked to an Iraqi refugee who settled here in 2016. "You people don't understand. Secularism is a really big reason that we come here!"

#islam #religion #atheism #secularism

One thing nominal Christians don't understand about #Islam is that it's impossible to be a privately religious Muslim long-term in your own home. Prayer in the mosque is a core activity. So those 90% who don't go -- secular by definition.
@mrundkvist Yes, it's so weird. Their biggest problem is that they get followed here by the controlling mechanism lately so the thing they fled from in the first place is trying to whip them into line again.
@mrundkvist
If they are not religious, then why refer to them as Muslims? Why not refer to them by their country or origin, or other cultural indicator?
@notyourfanboy @mrundkvist I'm gonna guess - because that's what they wrote on the census form. They're as Muslim as the census "Christians" who go to church at Christmas and Easter if even that often, and who own a Bible but could blow a layer of dust off it, so seldom do they pick it up.
