TIL that in the Distomo massacre, SS forces killed 228 people, including 40 children and 20 infants. Survivors reported that they bayoneted babies in cribs, stabbed pregnant women, and beheaded the priest. Red Cross teams later saw mutilated bodies hanging from trees along the road to the village.
