Do people who listen to #AudioBooks a lot have a preference to who's reading? Will they avoid a book if the wrong person is reading and are they more inclined to listen to a book if they like the reader?

I tried an audio book once but didn't finish it. It was the first Sherlock Holmes book and I found it a bit boring.

But one thing was I didn't like the reader's voice. He had a posh accent and irritating inflections on certain words.

Yes, narrators can make or break audiobooks for me. I've DNF'ed quite a few where I just could not vibe with the narrator(s), either because of particular qualities in their voice or because of acting choices they've made for characters which didn't feel like they fit the text.
Less common but I've also had the opposite occurrence where really good narrators have elevated texts which I can admit objectively were mediocre and thus encouraged me to keep listening.

My fear with audio books is that the reader will ruin the text with their choices.
