Sharing a crowdfunding request for Ky Peterson, a Black trans man who was incarcerated for killing his rapist in self-defense. When he was incarcerated everyone was bringing up his name and story to prove a political point, but now that he's out it's like everyone's completely forgotten about him. And he's been struggling to make ends meet FOR YEARS.

Right now, he's trying to raise $1500 to get a used car because his previous car got repossessed but driving is the only way for him to get to work.

@mutualaid Ky's kids were recently taken away by CPS (they're reunited now fortunately) because his car got taken away (from an unpaid loan) and he couldn't pick them up from school in time. He needs $80 to get the car back

The kids can't miss school cuz of truancy and Ky himself could get sent back to jail for it, which he doesn't want

Kids already missed one day of school due to no transportation

And if he doesn't pay the rest of the loan the car gets auctioned off

@mutualaid The latest ask from Ky is $100/500 to help cover bills while he recovers from surgery; he hasn't really been active because he's been in the hospital and when he did come back online people were giving him shit about still needing to crowdfund so it's been a rough time. Please give him as much support as you can, especially materially, 'cuz he fucking needs it a lot right now

Latest #MutualAidRequest from Ky is $115/500 for rent, utilities, Internet. Previously the goal was $1000 but he's grateful half of it was able to eventually get raised.

He's trying to get the rest by Friday

I'll update this post when I see updates from his Twitter (@ KyPeterson5). In general I've seen him give updates when there's new donations in or if the crowdfund is stalled but not when the goal has been met

Ky has been struggling for several days to raise funds to pay an overdue power bill of $486.90. He's trying to get this goal met March 23 (U.S. Eastern Daylight Time) ; his family was displaced by a house fire and they need $1200 total. Stalled horrifically

So this goal has repeatedly not been met and his crowdfunding posts have had low traction on Twitter but also on here. Current update is: they need to raise $360.90 to get back into their house after the house fire and pay the overdue electric bill. Ky was hoping to get the funds at least for rent yesterday but that didn't happen. Shit's super fucked and he and his family really need all the material support they can get

Ky's family is in danger of losing their housing again after being behind on rent. Landlord is going to file eviction unless they raise $436.41 by Monday the 18th, 8am U.S. Eastern Daylight Time.
