Why are the troops "Jewish"?

Military service is compulsory for Jewish Israelis. Muslims and Christians are exempt, even if they are also citizens of Israel.

What would you prefer: To be labeled Jewish and forced to work for the military? Or to be non-Jewish and be free from compulsory military work?

During the time of #Jesus, Roman soldiers would force Jews to carry their burdens for a mile. They could not compel other Romans to do this work.
