I can't believe I have to say this, but here goes:

If your choices are "candidate who wants to genocide trans people" (which will be whoever the Republicans run) and "candidate who wants to genocide trans people but blue" (Gavin Newsom, who is clearly Their Guy™ right now)

Asking me to vote for Gavin Newsom because "he's our best chance" and "vote blue no matter who" and "he's not whatever vile asshole the Republicans are going to run" is asking me to vote for my own demise from public life and possibly my actual life, just so you can feel better about the state of the country. And the fucked up thing is, every fucking lib I've talked to, none of them dispute the fact Gavin Newsom is transphobic as fuck. This is like a fully agreed-upon thing. The dude has anti-trans chuds on his podcast. He supports removing trans people from sports. He sided with fucking CHARLIE KIRK ON TRANS ISSUES. The liberals can't even fucking defend this one. They just say "well vote for him anyway because DEMOCRACY."

A country that tries to take rights away from millions of people who've done nothing but try to exist IS NOT A FUCKING DEMOCRACY.

And yes I am screaming about this now, in 2026, even though the election is two years away, because people need to know now, before the ball gets rolling, that this shit is not acceptable.

A vote for Gavin Newsom is your way of telling me you will happily throw expendable people under the bus, for your own fucking comfort. It sure as fuck won't be for your benefit. Look at the terrible job he's done in Cali. Cali is no more affordable now than it was 8 years ago. Cali is still in a housing crisis. Cali has the same issues with healthcare every other state has, and he vetoed bills to do something about it.

The only way voting for Gavin Newsom makes any sense at all, is if you truly do not care about trans people and signals to me you do not care about real change in this country.

Gavin Newsom has happily declared himself willing to throw open the doors -- or at least the flaps -- of the much-vaunted Big Tent to the people eagerly sitting outside, armed with machetes and torches and just looking for a slice of Big Tent they can fuck up.

Putting aside trans rights, that is a man who'll break bread with the fascists if they offer him a morsel, and we have a word for people like that.
