There's a lot to do during the next months. So I start thinking of where to spend two weeks off in September. I have a camper and no special place in mind (yes, Norway 🇳🇴❤️ - would love to get your recommendations, but anything else?)

Focus on sport (hiking, trailrunning, maybe gravel), mountains, sea?, nature, solo.

What would you recommend? What's your most loved place that's worth driving to from Valais, Switzerland within two weeks?

@marina My European experience is limited, but maybe Picos de Europa and León in general? It has spectacular mountains and hiking, but is culturally very different from Valais, and much more affordable.

@marina The area around Bolzano and Merano always attracted to us. Strange blending vibe of Italian with German and stunning surroundings. The Thermen of Merano are the best I have ever been to. Good luck picking a destination!

@bergmeister @marina I found Sudtirol fascinating as well: culturally Austria but legally Italy to my American eyes. It felt similar to how Ticino is Italy but technically Switzerland.

@marina The Pyrenees are A LOT closer to you than Lofoten, roughly a third of the distance... Many places there feel much more remote than other European mountain ranges (esp. on the Spanish side). Also a maybe more rugged, wild and quite different character than Alps (certainly than Valais), September also shouldn't be too hot anymore there... Instantly fell in love with it on our first visit!

@toxi @marina September is definitely a good time to come to the Pyrenees. There are many places to go, but for a first visit, I would recommend Ordesa valley for it's jaw-dropping landscape. Also, to do mountain hiking, Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici and Posets–Maladeta natural parks are great places, plenty of hiking tracks, good information and guarded mountain huts.

@marina vestkysten av Norge har jo mange fine steder, litt avhengig av hva man liker. Evt kan Rondane eller Dovre være fint, men spesielt Rondane er kanskje ikke perfekt for vanlife 😅
