[v1,00/27] KVM: s390: Introduce arm64 KVM - Patchwork

@never_released but... why?

@ariadne Power not being mentioned at all in the press release is quite interesting...

Might be a guess but arm64 gained the critical mass to make it preferable for IBM to implement *instead* of Power ISA...

@never_released i would not be surprised if IBM quietly deprecates POWER over the next few years honestly.
@ariadne @never_released the power roadmap doesn’t show much hope
@ariadne @never_released well that and also the existence of 5U z
@cb @never_released isn't that just for the PUs?

@ariadne @never_released i thought it was a standalone system at least for z/linux

tbh i wouldn’t be surprised if low end z that replaces power that uses commodity peripherals instead of channels materializes; it wouldn’t hurt the z/OS cash cow. though now if this is real, i also wonder if they plan to deprecate linux on z as an ecosystem and replace it with arm64

@ariadne @never_released i also wonder what the plan for i is since i is basically the only thing that moves at least low end power
@cb @never_released probably to port to ARM
@ariadne @never_released finally, an OS that can actually fully use CHERI
