Also, some IRS employees got reassigned to front end support where they have no experience. And thus, can't do their regular job. They mostly refer questions to someone who can (hopefully) answer them. Important work isn't getting done. The impact from this will be severe.

I just got another client with an IRS Notice to Lien letter demanding payment when he can prove he already paid. Sigh. One part of IRS is not aware of what the other is doing. There is a process to untangle this. I would advise getting an Enrolled Agent tax pro to do it.
