Porta NovaπŸšͺ for #doorsday

Wanted to do something a little bit different so I tried to edit it in an almost "comic book -esque" style. Why? Couldn't tell you to be honest. πŸ˜‚βœ¨
Also, please send thoughts and prayers - I have 1.5 hours of audio to transcribe and then turn into an interview. Miracles most welcome. 😭

I'm going to be honest with you. The editing is way too heavy-handed and almost in bad taste. But even so, there's something about this photograph.
Thanks for the feedback.
A pleasure. πŸ˜‰
I'm going to respectfully disagree with the "in bad taste" portion of @Lucienwittwer 's comment but agree that there's something about it. It's mesmerising. I can 100% see what you were going for. To me it brings to mind the cover art of a pulp fiction novel from the 40s. I absolutely LOVE IT.
Glad to see that others don't share my opinion. There's something for everyone.
Thank you! β™₯️ Oooh! I love that! 😍✨
Pulp fiction like this
Ooooh la la! ✨
Is that a pistol in your pocket or...?
Love the vibe! All it needs is a moody Bernard Herrmann-style "down these mean streets" noir soundtrack. When they reissue a collection of Jim Thompson's hard-boiled novels, there's the cover! Somebody commented ..."almost in bad taste". Well then, viva bad taste - it's a fantastic image.

@PHenderson57 @NotAHopeInHades This is the song/vibe that came to mind for me. Amazing image.😊

Michael Kiwanuka - Piano Joint (Lyric Video)

Excellent! You clearly had a more romantic impression than I did! Yeah - great choice (and beautiful song BTW)!
@[email protected] this song is beautiful!! Thank you! β™₯️✨
@NotAHopeInHades @PHenderson57 You’re welcome! I discovered Michael Kiwanuka through β€œTed Lasso” β€” his songs are used in a few of the episodes.😊
I've never seen it? Is it worth it? ✨
@NotAHopeInHades Love it! One of the best shows I’ve seen. Really smart, empathetic writing that strikes a balance between being funny and being deeply moving, and lots of endearing characters to fall in love with. It was such a good comfort watch during the pandemic.
That sounds really lovely! A comfort show is definitely what's needed in the current times! I can't keep re-watching community and the good place πŸ˜‚βœ¨ Thanks so much for the recommendation!!

@NotAHopeInHades You’re welcome! Love those shows too. If you like those, you’ll love this one.😊

(And after β€œTed Lasso,” try β€œShrinking”! Another smart, funny ensemble comfort show, and the best thing Harrison Ford has ever done.)

Oh fantastic! They are definitely on the list then! 😍 Shrinking I've never heard of! Peter loves Harrison Ford so this won't be a tough sell anyway! πŸ˜‚βœ¨
The photo may be a little busy; the contrast between the dominant green and the warm-toned brickwork creates a jarring effect. But it’s an interesting photo, as there’s a connection between the first person’s red cap and the signs, and the neighbourhood has a β€˜raw’ atmosphere that evokes the 1970s.
Thanks very much! 😊 I see what you mean! ✨
It’s dark. It’s gritty. It’s composed well for street photography. I dig it for sure.
Thank you kindly, Sir! πŸ«‚βœ¨
... sorry to say. This one is..."plastic". Don't know how to say. But this I the right place to experiment. πŸ˜ƒ...hope you get it right.
Oh! The point of it was supposed to be unrealistic and look like it came out of a comic book. Is that what you meant by plastic? ✨
That's right.I prefer your photos like "woman in red"..
Totally understand what you mean! Thanks so much! πŸ€—βœ¨
Upon opening, my 1st impression was AI. After closer study, I see that it tells a powerful, but ambiguous story, to wit, friends or foes. With that, I think that @NotAHopeInHades has done an excellent editing job in creating the "comic book -esque" style - it's just enough to catch your eye. -Phil
Thanks so much Phil! πŸ«‚ The only AI that was used was all my own - Absolute Idiocy πŸ˜‚. Actually, I was wondering if I could ask you a question? I don't know how familiar you are with Canon cameras. So, I don't shot in JPEG but CRaw because I thought it was a pretty good compromise. I really pushed the blacks in the jacket on of the guy with the red hat and it kind of looks a little funky up close. Would it be worth my while going full Raw for these night shots? Would I gain a lot more to work with? Thank you so much! πŸ«‚βœ¨
I don't shoot* - sorry autocorrect really hates me πŸ˜‚
Though I've use Canon since switching from film [c2002], the make isn't important. I use only RAW format, never JPGs. I would miss the opportunity to tweak each pic in RAW before dumping in Photoshop, where I may tweak some more. JPGs always lose some info in compression, and the conversion from in-camera RAW to JPG is done for you at the factory according to what they think is best for you. -Phil
Totally understand what you mean! That's why I don't shoot in JPGs either. I've been using Canon's CRaw option to save on space. (I am unfortunately a burst shooter πŸ˜‚, especially when it's street photography). I think I might try full Raw for nighttime instead of CRaw from now on because, though I like the end result of this picture and it was fun to do, I think it didn't give me as much range as I would have needed to really play around with it. I changed to CRaw because I had seen people say that it saves space and it's Canon's own compression formula? (I don't know if that's the right word) and it's basically the same as RAW but after this edit and the funky blacks - I am dubious. 🫀 In defence of Canon and CRaw though, I've not pushed an edit this far until now and have had no problems! So this is more user error on my part really. Sorry for the seriously long message, and if you have gotten this far down - thank you and have a lovely evening!! πŸ«‚βœ¨
Don't worry about long messages. Up until you filled me in here I had never heard of the C-Raw option [CR3]. I don't even know if Adobe's Camera RAW has the ability to process it. The only Canons that I've had have been Powershot G series with my newest G1 X Mark III already 8-years old! -Phil
I have an EOS R50 and I will say it's a really handy space saving option. I think when I converted over from RAW I noticed it almost doubled the amount of pictures remaining I could take. Yeah, Adobe can process .CR3 files! That looks like a really nice camera! 😊 It's the absolute perfect size! ✨
I like it, too. I generally like heavy editing, in almost any direction. To me, I guess that is the artistry of it, the effort that reveals something about the ... well, the artist.
What it reveals about me is that I will spend an incredible amount of time doing anything else than what I am supposed to be doing! πŸ˜‚ But thank you! β™₯️ It was an experiment, some liked it, some didn't. We learn something new and we soldier on! ✨
I love the editing...almost waiting for the superhero to come any *second* now!
Thank you! πŸ™πŸ» We need a superhero in times like these! 😭✨
Maybe all it takes is wearing a cape? ;)
If it were that easy I think we would have many more superheroes around! πŸ˜‚βœ¨
Well then, it was well intended. 😁
