@Broadfork What lovely compost. It’s an adventure with zen exercises, soil biology smells, and trugs to take to the gardens at home. Mmm. #compost

@Pollinators Making compost is always a good journey to go on. The trug fulls are just what the home raised bed needs for the growing year ahead.

It’s amazing how much the soil level drops in that bed with all year round intensive veg growing. Plants are hungry things.

@Broadfork And the nodig and compost top dressing methods are sustainable gardening methods! Our compost still has a frozen core. #nodig, #compost.
@Pollinators I would not survive long in your climate. I do appreciate our temperate UK conditions. I couldn’t be having frozen compost come April.
@Broadfork Your compost rhythm is optimized for your region, just like nature. The southern Minnesota earthworms are waking. First worms is a spring milestone. The runner ducks race out of the building at 8:30 and are pleased to be speed foraging the earthworms on the surface. Eleven ducks racing. It’s fun.
@Pollinators I imagine runner ducks are a lot of fun to have around the place.
@Broadfork Indeed. Imagine lithe penguins for upright foraging. Imagine a quiet line of robed monks walking on a fine narrow path. Imagine short legged sausage dogs at high speed, nose snuffling, changing directions so fast.
