Iran responds to the rhetoric by Trump and Hegseth about bombing them “back to the Stone Age”:
The Cyrus Cylinder dates back to the 6th century BCE and records Persian King Cyrus the Great's peaceful conquest of Babylon. It is sometimes called the “first charter of human rights” and details policies of religious tolerance, the restoration of temples, and the return of displaced peoples.

@leahmcelrath.bsky.social They want to send Iran Back to the Stone Age? Wait, I thought the US plan was to send Iran back to a pre-1945 world, the era in which no country had used nuclear weapons to kill, maime, burn, radiate & blast families.

@leahmcelrath.bsky.social and the Iranian regime show their appreciation for Cyrus by closing the roads to his tomb every year in the unofficial Cyrus day: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyrus_the_Great_Day

The US administration is bad, but the Iranian regime is much much worse. Their words are not worth echoing.

@leahmcelrath.bsky.social as far as I know the "storm of Alexander" was a response to continuous Persian invasions by Cyrus, Darius and Xerxes. i.e. Alexander didn't decide one day that he wants to conquer the persians. He just wanted to stop them "for good". Please correct me if I am wrong.
@leahmcelrath.bsky.social - using ‘human rights’ here as an example as to how advanced they are is probably not the best for them.
Nor for the US, if it comes to that.
