I work in several different environments. One of those had a network problem and needed to shut down temporarily three servers. Any three servers. The GIS server was the first to go.

@AtanasE too many sidecars files!
@defuneste I'm sure that was the reason
@AtanasE or it could be that Windows 2000 needed to be upgraded
@defuneste Or upgrade *TO* Windows 2000
@AtanasE I think this is a great plan all new security issues happen in new OS/software. If you use very, very old one you are protected! Brilliant!
@defuneste You're probably joking but you have no idea how right you are

@defuneste User: I need to be able to connect from my work computer to my home refrigerator.

No, you don't.

@AtanasE I was asked recently if I wanted to do a migration from MS access to PG. The issue was that it was multiple MS access in X number of desktops (and who know what was into them) into one "centralize" DB. We have been very creative for decades!
@defuneste Heracles cleaning the Augean stables had an easier task. I hope you shrieked "NO!!!!!!" and ran away.
@AtanasE i was lucky that my need of cash was lower than the pain of cleaning that mess! We should have a new profession that explores forgotten software/system implementation.
