Is it just me or was the general public's reaction to Artemis II launching more like shrugged shoulders than actual excitement?

I slept when it launched (time zones). Now, roughly 6 hours later, the story is barely above the fold on most news websites.

Thoughts on why?

The main reason is all the shitty news that is hitting most people much harder, but I think a lesser reason is that SLS and Orion are such old designs.

This is just a hunch and I'm no expert, but I briefly worked on Orion testing in 2008 -- and it wasn't a new design then. All my mentors from that time retired years ago.

So this mission feels like we're a teenager driving our parents old minivan. It's safe and it runs, but it's not cool or exciting.
