They should be running an instance for them and their staff.

I am curious why you went with Mastodon instead of say Wordpress Activity Pub addon that is more about publishing to the fedi from existing web presence over a server instance for the museum?

@craiglambie42 It's not my instance, you should ask their admin.
But I can tell you about the difference: a good social media communication is often different from content of your website. Wordpress is nice for including blogs, it's like RSS, just automation. But that's not like organisation's communicate e.g. about events or oeople.
And an instance for different museums connects them, they help one another to get known.
