Is it just me or was the general public's reaction to Artemis II launching more like shrugged shoulders than actual excitement?

I slept when it launched (time zones). Now, roughly 6 hours later, the story is barely above the fold on most news websites.

Thoughts on why?

I wasn't aware of the mission until yesterday. Somehow the news did not reach me in the first place.

So maybe there wasn't enough news coverage before the launch?

I also think a lot of people are currently focused on all the global issues 😔.

I did watch the launch yesterday night and got goosebumps.

I think you're right. Artemis 2 is being overshadowed by a lot of negative news.

And probably rightly so. Wars and economic fallout are a lot more impactful on people's lives and thus more newsworthy.

Hmm but back then the space race was more in focus, right? Also it was the first time humanity did something like that.
