The healthcare system is so broken. I know some people come to the ER for small reasons because they don't have a family doctor, etc.

But a woman next to us has been here since 7 am. Average wait time is over 14 hours now.

At least it's free 😕

@stephanie oh no, I'm so sorry, I hope you get the care you need soon! 💚

And that's often what I've said: at least it's free :(

@idzie now that I don't have a heart attack, I think I went down on the triage list, a lot 😅 we're just waiting on my blood test results and we'll probably leave after... Try to get an emergency appointment at our doctor's tomorrow
@idzie @stephanie I’ll take a 14-hour wait over not seeing anyone at all, ever, because I can’t afford it…

@bougiewonderland @idzie well sure, but it could still be better.

I just asked the triage nurse. He told me there are 8-10 people still before me. But he looked at my results and said I should wait. I saw very high platelets being flagged 🤔

@stephanie je pense à toi 🩷
@bougiewonderland @idzie 💜 je veux juste aller me coucher aaah j'espère que l'infirmier a raison que ça vaut la peine d'attendre
@stephanie Du moment que ce n’est pas un cancer de la prostate!

@stephanie and to be clear, the "at least it's free" is usually in the context of "well, at least we don't have to pay for our poor medical care" 😭

It sucks a lot, and has been the reason I've avoided the ER even when I know I should really go. I hope you're seen soon!

@idzie @stephanie Michael Garron in East Toronto has something no one seems to know about and a lot of other hospitals should have that is a non-emergency appointment for minor injuries. You go on their website and make an appointment, then you go there and see the doctor for your (sprain and other minor obvious non life threatening things)
This helps a lot their ER and triage.
Why isn’t this common place, IDK
