I should take a fresh inventory of my cursed tech ideas because I'm pretty sure I have at least one for every layer of computer science now.

I walked to the pharmacy back and here's a nonexhaustive list:

  • Hardware, boardfab Level
    • PETI, my ongoing virtual pet development project
    • Unnamed MSP430-based minicomputer project
    • The someone has made this a product already project: a modular-like-rackmount desktop simulator controllers thing
    • The actual eurorack I started building two years ago.
  • Hardware, cobble together level:
    • The briefcase cyberdeck I designed the Model II keyboard to work with
    • Refinement work on the Model II
  • Software:
    • Genuinely considering switching to a text-focused desktop environment (while retaining the ability to launch a few graphics mode tools and games, natch
    • HoroHoro, my astrological wallpaper "generator" that involved exactly no "generative" technology of any kind.
    • The PETI IDE that I keep threatening to build as a "friendliness" layer to would-be codevs.
  • Network:
    • Still want a NAS
    • Still want a TTL-and-relays smarthome system
@patcharcana if not DIY NAS, then stay away from Synology or get ready for a lot of tinkerings (related to drive health reporting), wild stuff [that is if not used "in house" parts]
