@carla @tommi @mary Distrochooser recommends many very small distros. This is risky if you don't know what you are doing as they may disappear with no clear upgrade path or have hard to troubleshoot issues.

@jak2k @tommi @mary That's a good point. For beginners it might seem complicated to switch distries. For me is the de more important than the distribution. Good luck for an easy start 🍀

@carla @mary Maybe I am in a bubble but I would suggest Debian stable to all beginners. The only problem is installation but I can help with that. Then you install flatpak and they are all set.

@tommi @mary sounds reasonable. I have good experiences with mx-linux as I try to avoid systemd, flatpak, snap, etc. I use to help with installation and the setup for their use case because many users feel shy to switch defaults. I give them a kind of crash course and explain the reasons for what we do. usually they are fine with that.

@tommi @mary As long as you put /home on a separate partition and don't pick Ubuntu or Mint, everything is fine…
