YSK that the English Wikipedia celebrates April Fools' by making bogus article deletion discussions - Lemmy.World

There are other ways it celebrates [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:April_Fools/April_Fools%27_Day_2026] like the main page [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page] (which you should check out), but I think you’re less likely to know about the deletion discussions [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Log/April_Fools%27_Day_2026]. NOTE: This is separate from formally nominating an article for deletion. If you wish to participate, do not actually follow the article nomination procedure. — Why YSK: Wikipedia often presents as self-serious, but in reality, the only thing keeping the project from turning into a giant shitpost is collective self-discipline. You might find it funny to see how Wikipedians really act and maybe get involved even if you don’t normally work on the project.

Please delete the Universe 🙏
Tried in 2021, but the corrupt admin cabal only deleted the observable Universe, undermining the community’s wishes. Their pro-Universe influence has gotten so bad in five years that, in 2026, there’s a discussion trying to get rid of the heat death of the Universe.
