I've visited the ruins of Fountains Abbey quite a few times, but this is the first time with the 360 camera.

Love the pattern of the vaulted roof.

the face!!

i'll always have a soft spot for fountains because it's on the cover of a book called monasteries in the landscape by mick aston, who signed it for me when i met him once, long ago, when i was studying such things ...
@moonrabbit It is such a beautiful place. I'm a sucker for a good ruin - all those stories in the stones - and it is one of the best.
@eclectech
same same. part of what i very much miss about home. ofc there are ruins here, but they're not the same. not the same at all.
@eclectech @moonrabbit been once. it was lovely. couldn't manage it with family now unless we hired two off-road wheelchairs… unless it has changed beyond recognition…
@fishidwardrobe @moonrabbit There are some very steep slopes there, but I did notice they had National Trust mobility scooters available for visitors.
@eclectech @moonrabbit wow, it really *has* changed! when we were there it was walk or there was a landrover to take you up the hill!
@fishidwardrobe @moonrabbit You got me curious so I just went and checked - they still have transportation between the three entry points, but also have mobility scooters and manual wheelchairs available for hire (free of charge). That feels like good progress.
