Happy 50th, Apple!

(Here's my oldest!)

Was way too expensive for me as a high-school student 😧

Fortunately, there were those kinda-affordable empty motherboards around that you had to get the required TTL (and other) chips for and solder together yourself. And a keyboard with a matching interface, and all the rest. 😀

Served me throughout university 😊

@DanielaKEngert that's pretty badass

Still have it here in my office. I'm not sure if there is any magnetism left on the floppies, though 🤔
@DanielaKEngert in my experience floppy disks and other magnetic storage last pretty much forever (except for hard disks)

@thomasfuchs Here's one of its younger siblings (with a nice looking but broken CRT). I'm fond of this case design despite the terrible typing position.

Memories! Mine had two floppy drives, so we could cheat at Wizardry. Wrote my first video game in BASIC on mine, storing the program on cassette tape (before I got the drives). Also wrote a program to project star maps as seen from any other nearby star. Fun times.

I sold mine to buy my first Macintosh.
