I just want to roll this out one more time because it's so laughably wrong and I love it so much.

The price of oil has skyrocketed due to the actions of a couple of warmongering fascists several thousand miles away. I'm not sure how Jill defined energy security back in 2024, but this sure as hell ain't it.

(Our small diesel van currently costs ten times more per mile to fuel than our EV).

I talked about this in another post - right wingers in the UK are playing on revanchism, hence the Morris minor in pastel pea-green in this article. It has no logic or politics beyond trying to instill nostalgia for a lost past and is essentially a vehicle for policies originating from Peter Theil.

Dan Olson, an astute Canadian documentaary maker, went into the MAGA connection between Cunningham's wierdly atonal mayoral campaign poster and the symbolism of the penguin around the time it appeared in January.

@Theriac I'm sure there are multiple books written about this, but as you say the whole thing is based on revisionism and nostalgia. Would "Take Control" or "Make America Great" have been equally effective slogans, without their nod to a non-existent or deeply problematic past?

Maybe the worst thing is that it's all so easily debunked. But as a clever person once wrote, all evidence to the contrary is just evidence of how deep the conspiracy goes.
