The price of oil has skyrocketed due to the actions of a couple of warmongering fascists several thousand miles away. I'm not sure how Jill defined energy security back in 2024, but this sure as hell ain't it.
(Our small diesel van currently costs ten times more per mile to fuel than our EV).
@Theriac I'm sure there are multiple books written about this, but as you say the whole thing is based on revisionism and nostalgia. Would "Take Control" or "Make America Great" have been equally effective slogans, without their nod to a non-existent or deeply problematic past?
Maybe the worst thing is that it's all so easily debunked. But as a clever person once wrote, all evidence to the contrary is just evidence of how deep the conspiracy goes.
No-one tell Jill about the post war settlement where Oil was foisted on the UK by the US to destroy domestic Coal and Rail and make use dependent on US controlled energy infrastructure. Otherwise we may inadvertently raise the quality of Telegraph reporting.
