@Techaltar Why is there no love for cash in here? I don’t want batteries, or internet service, or a phone to be required—& I want my privacy respected. I don’t care for the tiny inconvenience of needing to carry change or stop by the ATM machine. Having moved to a cash-first country a decade ago, it took about a month to adopt/integrate to not using cards for everything & now it is 100% preferred. Folks will complain about ATM fees (my bank luckily pays them), but *this* is the part of the chain I wish these systems would be fixing.

Worse is these payment systems often tend to only work on proprietary Google or Apple mobile duopoly phones—which just shifts the blame to 2 different US corporations… 2 that know more about most of their users than even the credit card companies. & even then, this is why it’s been infeasible to most to flash custom ROMs, root their phones, & continue to be the owner of their purchased device as the banks have turned your phone into their terminal. I want this all offloaded so I can maintain the freedom in the computer in my pocket… the banks & megacorpos can kick rocks.
