🇷🇴 #Alstom has been awarded a contract to modernise the Craiova–Filiași railway section in #Romania. This project, part of a major #EU #railway corridor, will involve upgrading the signalling system to ERTMS Level 2 and modernising electrification. The enhancements aim to increase rail capacity, allowing passenger trains to reach speeds of up to 160 km/h and freight trains up to 120 km/h. This modernisation will lead to faster journeys, improved energy efficiency, and reduced environmental impact, supporting Romania's transition to sustainable transport. Alstom's expertise in signalling and electrification, developed over 30 years in Romania, will be key to this project. The company is a global leader in ERTMS deployment and has a significant presence in Romania, contributing to various railway infrastructure improvements.
