Interesting place for cyclists, this city. Shortly after moving here, I was already getting told by motorists to "get on the fucking footpaths". Once a parent, I'm yelled at for riding on the road with kids in tow.
Now the QLD government wants me to ride on the road if I dare go faster than 10 km/h. You know, the road where I get beeped, abused, where the default speed limit is 60 km/h, and where motorists never get in trouble for not respecting the minimum 1-m distance when overtaking.

@stragu I'm in NSW, rules are essentially the same. I ignore the footpath rule and ride on it all the time. I've never had a cop look at me, but would happily take the fine every time because most roads just aren't safe for bikes. My safety is more important than some poorly thought-through rule.
