Renfe has given up trying to run trains to Paris, I presume concluding (correctly imho) that the Talgo 106 series isn’t up to the task

Trains to Lyon and Marseille will continue

elDiario.esWhere this leaves Le Train - the French startup that wants to order the same type - is anyone’s guess
As for Renfe: I assume once the 350km/h trains it is now tendering will run, it can theoretically use a few of those internationally
But the Talgo 106 has been a hellish bad choice
Those 30-40 350km/h trainsets which Renfe is procuring will be for 🇪🇦 internal operations.
No mention whatsoever of operations into 🇫🇷🇵🇹.
There's enough potential on Madrid - Barcelona to concentrate the whole of that new fleet there.
Presumably, S-103s will focus on Madrid - Seville/Malaga.
🔜
S-100s will be phased out from 2029 to 2032.
Some may soon run on Avant (Madrid Ch - Valladolid CG, Madrid PdA - Ciudad Real) as pre-retirement, so as to release S-104/114s to other routes (Valencia - Almeria). Once S-107s are all in service.
S-102/112s will run on lower-demand AVE routes.
🔜
The decision by Renfe to ditch S-106F certification in 🇫🇷 is indeed bad news for Le Train, unless Talgo decides to pursue it on its own.
4 years of time and engineering resources wasted. 🤬🤬🤬
Admittedly, 🇫🇷 is not an easy market for step into, owing to regulatory golden-plating.
