I've been on a very low carb, no dairy cardiac diet for a year now. I've lost weight, I feel good, and my cholesterol numbers are great.

But tonight, for some reason, I am *really* hungry for cheese. I want a big glass of a good Zinfandel, a roll of whole grain crackers, and a wedge of Gorgonzola.

Oh, well.

This is where being rural and remote is a plus. If I were in the city, I'd probably just go get some cheese. I'm weak.

But here the nearest store where I could get a wedge of gorgonzola is 80 miles away. Not going to happen on a whim.

@wanderinghermit I get the low carb, but why the low dairy? I’m assuming it’s for the cardiac reasons and not the more normal intolerance.

Also, I now want Gorgonzola. Lol

@Spartan_1986

I assume that eliminating dairy fat was instrumental in reducing my cholesterol. I definitely think that eliminating dairy fat was instrumental in dropping 17 lbs. So overall it worked, and I'm happy with the outcome. But sometimes I miss cheese.

Please. Eat some gorgonzola in my honor, and enjoy.

@wanderinghermit Sadly I’ve only cheddar, feta and parmesan reggiano in the fridge. But I know where they sell the Gorgonzola. I anticipate a trip in my near future. With cheese being 2/3 fat (by calories) I can understand why it was an easy drop. I only have it when I can afford the fat load. Fortunately I've no cardio issues to worry about.
@wanderinghermit Gorgonzola and crackers… feeling low on salt today?
@wanderinghermit I hear you. I'm on a largely plant based diet but I allow myself a little wedge of cheese every now and then so I don't obsess about it. I don't know what's harder to let go of, cheese or coffee! 😁
