The SCOTUS deciding to fuck over trans people on TDoV 8–1 is a great example of what I meant the other day about trans people being a wedge that the right-wing can use to hurt others.
I don't think we're the primary target for that ruling, it reads to my lay understanding as an attack on administrative state regulation of medical practice *in general*. But we're easy to hurt, so they come after us first in order to do harm to others.

That's emphatically not "the point to anti-trans violence is how it affects cis people," it's almost the exact opposite: we're getting hurt because a lot of cis people aren't standing up for themselves, preferring to let us get hurt instead.
One way cis people can help trans people today and every other day of the year is to stand up for yourself, refuse to let trans people be a wedge.
@xgranade the thing that broke my father, over the protests of my mother, on organized faith was his experience of every Southern Baptist preacher in the 1960's using their authority to defraud and embezzle from their parishioners.
The court has loudly endorsed this practice.
@emma I have an extended family member who has made obscene amounts of money peddling "Christian wealth management." Guy's an unmitigated asshole outside of that, too.
It's incredibly toxic how extractionist conservatism and religious conservatism intertwine.
@xgranade My reaction to this ruling is to figure out how to craft a legal order that I will never ever be seen by a religion-affiliated medical system / practitioner. As in: if the choice is being ambulanced to St Luke’s Methodist or bleeding out in the ditch, I choose to bleed out.
