Actually, let me try something different than just asking for money for TDOV:

If you have any possible leads or hiring power for a job that hires for WFH customer/tech support out of Washington state PLEASE message or DM me and if you don't please share this.

I'm trans and stuck in Texas because nobody will hire me and I can't take my job with me when I move to Seattle. So my options are move and end up homeless, or stay where I am in increasing danger.

I have 12+ years of experience in call center work and legitimately just need a job so I can move.

@gwentacles @mcc I am sorry. I dislike living in Texas too. I can only imagine what it’s like for marginalized people.
@gwentacles not the healthiest or happiest working environment but Providence healthcare is usually hiring wfh customer service jobs.
@choccymalk i will take literally whatever i can get. if you work for them, do you have a hiring portal you can point me towards?
@gwentacles https://providence.jobs/jobs/ I’m told that “PEC” is the call center type jobs.

@choccymalk appreciate you so much! ty!

@gwentacles there’s also a large Verizon customer service center in Olympia (~60mi south of Seattle) and cost of living is a bit lower there. Last I checked it was being operated by Xerox.

And this is not at all what you asked for but if you’re capable of doing physical work and are interested working with a bunch of weird ass people, consider taking some work in live events: https://ia15.org/why-work-through-iatse-15/

Why work through IATSE #15? – International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local #15

@gwentacles Same boat, different float. Ace stuck in East TX. Nobody out of state will interview me for something else. I know it doesn't help to hear, but I'm with you. Can't leave soon enough.
@Tock appreciate the solidarity if nothing else
The company I work for, their entire Operations staff is remote. It’s a BCBS licensee. https://careers.highmarkhealth.org/outreach-representative/job/1321A2FFA341F5C37DED04AB5006A383

@gwentacles

I encourage you to look at rents in Tacoma rather than Seattle unless you already have a friend there who you're going to stay with. Tacoma rents are significantly cheaper than Seattle and you can get to Seattle via train.

@CorvidCrone @gwentacles I think King county has some services Pierce doesn’t have (just based on which of my clients are eligible for what - I don’t live in either county), so if you need to be in King you could look to Lynnwood, Federal Way, Kent too. Everything in the Seattle metro area is super expensive but there are better and worse areas :’)

For jobs, I’d try temp agencies! I worked with Emerald Search Partners (legal focused but had call center jobs).

@Recalcitrant @gwentacles

That's true.

Some of the more effective social safety net services in Pierce county are not exactly government sanctioned.

@CorvidCrone @gwentacles Realistically you would put a local address down on your resume and then move immediately if you get something. Like don’t tell them you’re relocating, just do it. My interviews were phone & I didn’t even interview with the placement. Then once you’re here it’ll be easier to find something permanent or the temp agency will keep trying to find stuff for you.

Bumping for #tdov Need not quite met (almost there though!) and what an ironic and horrible time to do something so shitty to a group of trans people https://www.gofundme.com/f/aid-for-trans-refugees-being-forced-from-bloom-house-by-werq #mutualAid #transMutualAid #transDayOfVisibility #transDayOfRage

@gwentacles Have you applied to Premera? They have a call center near Seattle. NGL you'll probably hate the job, which is why they are frequently hiring... but it does get you out of TX

@gwentacles don't know if it helps but maybe the tag # FediHire could help here?

Best wishes from Germany.

@gwentacles Same boat. In Texas, queer, & with three queer children to boot.

@gwentacles https://porkbun.com/careers

they ask for strong domain/hosting skills but also say “very strong experience in live technical support” works.
