my scorching hot take is that I no longer like trans day of visibility.

we have enough visibility. we have no power. visibility without power is a death pact. most days, I would prefer if trans people were utterly invisible and allowed to hide in the darkness away from the searing flames of righteous light that seek to burn us out of existence.

"remember that trans men also exist!"

every single law being written to strip away the rights of trans people to medically transition are being done specifically to target trans men, because according to white nationalism, any individual capable of bearing children must be "protected".

so please, don't worry! they know about trans men now! we won!

@AmyZenunim Yeah given the current tenor of "we want to see you because we want to acquire, evaluate, and potentially eliminate you," _visibility_ is maybe not the thing at this exact moment.

I only have second-hand skin in this game but what you're saying meshes with what I'm seeing...

@AmyZenunim

I do like the original thought behind the day but considering where we are I understand why a lot of us should be jaded.

On the other hand, I have 0 idea whether a timeline without tdov would be better or worse since right wing think tanks were looking for a new target after losing grounds in regards to gay rights. And like, would a group cis liberals have their misconceptions about but was mostly portrayed positively deal worse or better without tdov? Like, without anything there I can see it potentially being worse since it could make us easier to demonize without fact checking but also better since people might be more indifferent...

Idk, sorry for the ramble if you didn't like that much. I just wanted to put some of my current thoughts from this post somewhere.
@AmyZenunim

Though, my thoughts are probably mostly very 2010s and onward since I was clueless before then and most of the media in regards to trans people was very negative before then too. :/
