GinevraCatIs it necessary to have a pixelfed AND a mastodon account - like I used to have twitter and instagram, or can they be used interchangeably?
I have seen some pixelfed accounts posting on here so I wondered.

@erikcats That's why I was wondering. I would probably use them differently, but it might be nice to have one more image-y account)
electric brain dump@GinevraCat so you don't technically need different accounts, unless you want them to be separate and/or have separate purposes.
One service is more focused on photography, as you've noted, and there will be some differences in the overall user experience but accounts from both services are visible and followable because they are both a part of the wider Fediverse.
@GinevraCat one advantage if you want to post multiple photos in one post, is that there is more flexibility for that on Pixelfed, as well as a Stories and Collections like functionality.
