"As well as revealing the extent of the [clitoral] nerves that are crucial to orgasms, the work shows that some of what medics are learning about the anatomy of the clitoris is wrong, and could help prevent women who have pelvic operations from ending up with poorer sexual function."

Full network of clitoral nerves mapped out for first time

Anatomy of one of least studied human organs could improve outcomes for women who have pelvic surgery

@bich
This is good news. I also enjoyed reading this line near the end:

"[Ju Young] Lee is hoping to open a clitoris exhibition within Amsterdam University Medical Center to help expand knowledge about the clitoris, inspired by the Vagina Museum in London." 😁

It's surprising, but not surprising how little we know about the clitoris.

@AdaraAstin @bich That's honestly pretty neat. From what I've heard, there are like, way more nerves than guys have so probably means like way more powerful orgasms too. Cool that all the nerves have been mapped out though, took long enough for sure. Gonna read the article in full assuming it's not behind a paywall.
@bich The 2 cadaver donors were both postmenopausal women, ages 59 and 69. The study didn't say whether either had given birth. It will be interesting to see whether/how their understanding changes as they study women at different ages.
