I find the ignorance of some of these parents so embarrassing. 🤦‍♂️ Good on the school though. #Sikhism

Reassurance issued after pupil allowed to wear ceremonial dagger #News https://nation.cymru/news/reassurance-issued-after-pupil-allowed-to-wear-ceremonial-dagger/

@druid @NationCymru very similar to the skein du carried by Scots when in formal kilts. By putting the knife in your hose (sock) you are indicating you come in peace as the knife was traditionally hidden for clandestine use, except when visiting others homes.

@druid This is ultimately the reason why exposure to the practices of other religions and cultures is so vital! Sikhism is one of the less awful religious traditions in the world; learning is one of the best ways to become familiar with new concepts and ideas.

I personally don't see an issue with the carrying of a ceremonial dagger because it is secured and should never be casually used. I too am happy that the school responded with dignity and respect in mind.

I find it disturbing that a mother gifted fancy nails to her 14-year-old.
