And at U.S. border drawing time in 1850, Texas was slapped by Congress for trying to land grab eastern New Mexico. As political entities, New Mexico is 223 years older than Texas. [edit: in 1850 Texas was paid compensation of $10,000,000 to drop it's claims on NM. So will they give that money back now?]
