Richard Webb@kityates I have done a couple of programmes, back in the Gascoigne era. It appears to be a lot harder these days. I doubt I would bother the buzzer much now - I blame pub quizzes.

Jon@kityates at Caltech, when we went out as a group to dinner and it came time to split the bill, the rule was that the youngest NON-math major was responsible for doing the calculation. We did not trust pure math people to do arithmetic, even at that embryonic stage. (Also, for some reason a MA degree required about 7% less credit hours that engineering and science degrees, causing us to look on them with even more skepticism.)

Roger Gammans@kityates I remember many years ago just after I had graduated, reading a piece about how difficult VCRs were to program - never been a problem I thought - unless you have a electronics degree the article continued. Um yeah guilty there.
