@stefan the goal of the fediverse doesn't have to be growth, one of the advantages of not being tied to VC funding. I would rather people engaged less here and more in real life, and this place helped with those connections, rather than try to coopt and monetise them.

Those giant centralized trees, the users are just leaves, feeding their sunlight and nutrients to a billionaire trunk that would just as soon shed them all.

#Fedi is a slow growth forest, lots of different sizes and types of plants, all networking with their neighbors.

Growth isn't the point, connection and meaningful exchanges are the point.

A forest also takes a lot longer to grow than a single tree.
