Now that the Knesset has voted for a death penalty that effectively will only be applied to Palestinians, now is as good a time as any to sign the EU Citizen's initiative calling the European Commission to suspend the EU-Israel Association Treaty: https://citizens-initiative.europa.eu/initiatives/details/2025/000005_en

European Citizens' Initiative
@whvholst Curious, how many people do they put to death every year on average?
@joe Is this a good faith question if two minutes of perusing the news shows it is a new measure so the answer is none, but that even bloody Germany has criticised Israel for proposing it because the wording of the law is such that only Palestinians will be executed?

@whvholst

Germans created the death penalty in 1933 and then abolished it when their leaders were hung. The last person Israel put to death was Eichmann.

Regarding the wording of the law - would it make sense for us to make a UN resolution that says Ireland can't attack Gaza?

It's easy to be outraged on the surface, apply other parts of the news to this. But that's kind of weird too in a way.

@whvholst It is as if the Nazis never died out - the Nazi ideology alive and well in the Knesset, sadly.
