Emeritus Prof Christopher MayThree years ago PM Rishi Sunak cut a deal with President Macron for France & the UK to work together to reduce 'small boat' crossing across the channel.
The agreement is about to end & its replacement has not been finalised as the French are concerned about UK demands for a great emphasis on intervention & less focus on safety.
As the UK covers 2/3 of the costs, the demand is essentially for better value for money....which is not going down well
