With every update my Pixel gets slower and slower. Have I been hacked, or has Google been stuffing more and more AI into my device?
@AtanasE The solution to this is GrapheneOS...
@mapseen Yes. I am waiting for the launch of the Motorola Graphene device later this year.
@AtanasE Storing any gpkgs on it? 🤔🤔
@shapefile A shapefile by any other name would smell as sweet

@AtanasE I don't know if its AI, but my Pixel 8 has been on a downhill trajectory since I bought it. This is my second Pixel phone and....well lets just say I will be moving over to a more fruit-based phone next.

I've been on Android like forever, but at this point.....Apple is less evil and problimatic than Google.

@gedvondur interesting. I have been on Android forever as well, frustrated by Google as well, but hasn't even occurred to me to go to Apple. Motorola with graphene makes more sense to me

@AtanasE I admit, this is a nerd failing on my part.

I'd love to do something like Graphene...but not going to be available until 2027.

That and for me...I just want it to work and maybe not spy on me. Too many other electronics and computer things to do that are more interesting for me. Time spent on dealing with smartphone issues is time wasted for me.

@gedvondur @AtanasE If you have a Pixel, you always have the option to use GrapheneOS now. But that is definitely a more involved process...which is exactly why I haven't done it yet either. But I'm hoping I have time this week. I've been more and more disappointed in basically every big tech company and I'm all for just saying f$&k it to all of them.

I'm even looking at installing Arch on my laptop to try out, instead of Fedora. The problem is, that makes me responsible for everything on there. Plus side...no one else will screw with things on me.

@jjbaumgartner @gedvondur Yes. Plus, some apps (e.g., banking) may not (yet) work with Graphene. So a two-phone solution may be necessary. My current pixel for banking, graphene for other stuff.
