On a scale from 1-10, my hatred for AI-based support is at 1000.

I use Storyblocks for stock video and I found a bug in their AI, so I sent them a chat message.

Instead of a human answering, an AI system replied, that I could submit my report to it. So I wrote a bug report to it, but then the AI replied that it was NOT capable of handling the bug report, but I could contact them by mail. So I wrote the mail… and who replies? The AI agent which already failed — now giving me a new bogus answer.

@randahl This AI is just wasting energy for making life worse. It defines today to saying Loose-Loose.
@randahl Lol, what did you expect then?
@randahl I "love" AI!!! It's so fake!!!
@randahl ThE Ai fAiLs AnD sHe AtTaCkS tHe HaRdWaRe. TyPiCaL.
@randahl Today I wrote at an LLM the same question in 3 different ways, before it understood. The machines are no helping us, but we need to shepherd the machine towards performing something that looks like help. It's pathetic.
@[email protected] I hope the floor (in the gif) was also meant to be destroyed 👀
@randahl it's more and more difficult to reach a real person.
I do most things on-line, web interfaces being perfectly ok for me. But if I have a REAL problem and there's a phone number, I expect help from a real person and not an idiotic computer voice.

@randahl This is what happened; hyped up AI as the ‘answer’ to everything and, when it fails to deliver, blame the user for “not utilizing it correctly”.

If it is not that, it IS functioning correctly as a gatekeeper to divert complaints.

It is much more cost-effective to use machines to frustrate a human instead of paying another human to help.

@randahl Did AI write the Alt-Text,also?
It's simultaneously wrong (the computer is not angry), and useless (it doesn't tell a person what happening in the GIF).
@randahl
AI chat in almost every instance is utterly useless. Why do companies even have this? To frustrate people so they go away? This is what we are fighting wars and destroying our water supply for? ☠️

@randahl Customer service is a company’s first opportunity to engage with an active customer that’s having a problem with their product.

As someone who’s run companies that build software, this is one of the single most important interactions your company will have with its customers.

Handing that opportunity off to AI because it’s cheap and “good enough” shows how little you care for those customers. Why you’d squander that moment is totally beyond me.

@randahl Send an angry reply. There are short circuits for that which get escalated immediate to the human support.
