The #DigitalCommons European Digital Infrastructure Consortium (#EDIC) is taking shape with more countries joining, a newly appointed Director, and its first projects — including a pilot for a European #SovereignTechFund.

Congratulations to Laurent Rojey on his appointment as Director of the DC EDIC. His appointment was unanimously approved by the General Assembly of the founding Member States.

We also look forward to working with Chair Art de Blaauw, CIO of the Central Government of the Netherlands, and vice-chairs Prof. Dr. Luise Hölscher, State Secretary at the @BMDS, and Serafino Sorrenti, Chief Information Security Officer for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of Italy.

Among the EDIC's first concrete initiatives are a “100 Day Challenge” to build sovereign and interoperable open source components and a pilot for a European Sovereign Tech Fund (#EUSTF) 2/4

which the #SovereignTechAgency is leading, modeled after our #SovereignTechFund. Drawing on our operational and strategic expertise and international network, we will explore how our proven approach can be applied at the European level to strengthen critical open digital infrastructure. More details will be announced soon.

The DC EDIC was established in October 2025 by the European Commission as an initiative of five founding Member States: France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, and Luxembourg. It has since grown to twelve participants and remains open to all EU Member States.
