Cursed idea:

Bethesda never releases Elder Scrolls 6. Instead, they release the art assets and story boards along with an updated mod creation toolkit, because they know that modders will just remake the ground up for them like they always do.

This post brought to you by finally playing Starfield because, 3 years after launch, it is finally relatively fun to play as long as you install the Star Valor and Better Locational Damage mods to make the guns actually act like guns instead of acting like nerf blasters
@Dio9sys how is starfield anyway? I was looking forward to it, but figured I'd end up waiting until the modders got to it anyway. Then I saw Oneyplays sit down with it and just rip it to shreads (not that that's usually indicative of anything, but they had some valid points at the time). Ended up dropping off my radar after that.

It seems fine so far! Not my favorite game in any specific category, but a decent game when taken as a whole (made better with combat mods).The ship combat is not as good as Everspace 2, but it's good enough. The flying and docking isn't as good as X4 foundations, but it's good enough. The construction isn't as good as The Planet Crafter, but it's good enough.

The game so far is defined by being Good Enough but not great at any one specific thing, with the thing that holds it together being the honestly great voice acting and the moon being a 3D model from actual nasa scans. It is certifiably neat to build an outpost in the sea of tranquility, even if the building is basically just fallout 4 with a fresh coat of paint.

So...eh? it's fine. It leaves me wanting for more and better when I try to do sandbox things in it, but following quests is pretty fun.

@StaticRocket
with that said, X4 Foundations is getting a huge combat and lore update soon and X4 is my favorite space sim of all time. Highly highly recommend as long as you are ok with a little bit of euro jank and awkward voce acting/some lines that I suspect were made through microsoft text to speech
@Dio9sys X4 looks neat, but it's not going to be one of those sims that really wants me to build a full cockpit irl in order to feel like I'm operating the ships correctly is it?
@StaticRocket
Nah. While I occasionally play with a HOSAS setup and big button box for fun, it is actually more convenient to just play with an xbox controller or mouse and keyboard.
